Mohammad Ishtiaq ousts Khurram
Agha in final: Sindh Cup Snooker Championship at Aly’s Snooker Parlour
The crowd present at Aly’s
Snooker Parlour saw an outstanding display of snooker skills from a mere amateur, Mohammad Ishtiaq, who played impressively
showing his snooker genius and ousted
the defending champion, Khurram Agha, by the score line of 6-2 in the final to win
the 20th Sindh Cup Snooker Championship.
The 21-year-old Ishtiaq
put up a superb show against international potter, Agha and was able to nudge him four frames down at the end of the final.
The first session of the match up was
a topsy-turvy affair as both potters tried to grab early lead in the match. At the
end of the first session, before the interval, the scores were 2-2 level.
Agha moved into one frame
lead when he took the first scrappy frame by the score line of 27-65. Ishtiaq, on the other hand, was under pressure but the
youngster did not lose his focus
and grabbed the second frame 80-35 to pull level at 1-1. Agha bounced back in the third
frame to win by 0-110 after pocketing some excellent knocks and led 1-2.
Ishtiaq was in good shape
so he did not let any pressure trouble his game play. He played terrifically after losing third frame and managed to claim
fourth frame victory by 69-40 and equalised
the scores 2-2. After that, it was all Ishtiaq show as the youngster swept
the table in no time and clinching next four frames, finished the match by 6-2 and claimed the provincial title.
The overall frame score
line of the match was 27-65, 80-35, 0-110, 69-40, 80-79, 56-43, 65-42 and 58-49.
Secretary General Sindh
Billiards and Snooker Association, Sikander Ali awarded Ishtiaq a glittering trophy along with the cash prize of Rs. 25000,
while Khurram pocketed Rs.15000 and
a runner-up trophy.
Meanwhile the semi-finalists,
